A local dance and musical theatre company, DMT School CIC, is delighted to announce its participation in the nationwide initiative, "Let's Dance!"
On Sunday 2nd March 2025, DMT School CIC will host a series of complimentary short public dance workshops for all ages in Crawley's Queens Square.
The day will also showcase performances by Urban City, Y.E.S Project & DMT School CIC.
Additionally, a disco dome will be available for young movers to encourage sensory movement.
The event will conclude with a "WICKED"-inspired workshop led by a West End Dance Captain of the acclaimed stage and movie musical. To participate in the "Wicked"-inspired workshop, please email DMT School CIC.
"Let's Dance" is a collaborative movement of organizations, charities, health professionals, community groups, and celebrities. Spearheaded by Angela Rippon CBE, this initiative aims to raise awareness of the physical and mental health benefits of dance, fosters a community spirit, and encourages those who don't typically dance to give it a try.
Dance provides a unique combination of benefits to individuals, communities, and societies. It not only brings people together but also promotes physical activity, which can address chronic health challenges and combat loneliness.
This event is presented by DMT School CIC, in partnership with Creative Crawley, Crawley LGBT CIC, Crawley Pride, Crawley Town Centre Bid, Dance Hub & Dreamcatcher Productions.
DMT School Director, Vincent Wootton states "Let's Dance encourages everyone, from our older community members to our youngest movers, to embrace the joy and benefits of dancing. Increased engagement with dance will enhance individual and societal well-being.

In 2023, Sport and Recreation Alliance research indicated that despite its potential to support physical and mental health and engage inactive populations, dance remains highly underutilized in this country.
